South Pacific and August: Osage County were the big winners for the 2007-2008 Outer Critics Awards. The Lincoln Center revival of South Pacific, which won Best Musical Revival, took home four awards, and Tracy Letts' August, followed with three awards, including Best New Broadway Play. The 58th Annual Awards also included two tie votes: Young Frankenstein and Xanadu for Best Musical, and Adding Machine and Next to Normal for Outstanding New Score.
The Outer Critics Circle, which consists of writers covering New York theater for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway, offered awards in 23 categories including both Broadway and off-Broadway. The annual awards ceremony will be held on May 22 at Sardi's.
